A New Day for

Hawthorne

My name is L. David Patterson, and I want to be your next City Councilman

I am proud to have an independent campaign focused on serving the needs of the community

A native of Southern California, L. David Patterson has spent the last 20 years in service to his community and fellow man. David has been actively involved in the city of Hawthorne, volunteering his time to various non-profits as well as community organizations such as the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce, the Hawthorne Economic Development Council, and Hawthorne Teen Center.

In November 2013, L. David Patterson became the first African American to be elected City Treasurer to the City of Hawthorne and was officially sworn in December 10, 2013. In 2018 David was re-elected to another four year term as Treasurer, winning 70% of the vote.  David was soon after recruited and appointed to also serve as Treasurer for the South Bay Cities Council of Governments.

During his time as Treasurer, David has transformed the office of Treasurer, working with the City Manager, and City Council to increase the City's cash on hand by 600% and the return on the Hawthorne's investments by more than 400%.

David will bring his financial expertise to the office of Councilman to keep Hawthorne's finances safe, provide transparency, and make sure the city is well run.

On The Issues

It's time we stand up for our ideals, it's time we take on the status quo

Accountability

In order to build a City that serves all its citizens,  Hawthorne must have transparency and accountability at all levels of government.

The people must have easy access to information and be well involved in the development of our Budget.

Economic Development

The attraction & development of Hotels, Shopping, & Dinning will make Hawthorne a Destination for the South Bay as well as grow our local economy.

Becoming a business friendly city, and taking a proactive approach to bringing business to Hawthorne will allow Hawthorne to take advantage of all the positive economic activity happening in our region.

Community Development

Investment in education, jobs training, affordable housing, and community services will be the key to our Hawthorne's Future.

We must also be a leader in diversity and accountability in our Police force. And continue to expand our existing Community Policing efforts.
